“The Creative Touch” The Kompleks Creative Group Story
Kompleks Creative, Inc. is a Durham, North Carolina based high-level graphic design firm located in the heart of the “Bull City.” Kompleks Creative was founded in 2001, by North Carolina Central University (NCCU) graduate, Tobias Rose. Kompleks specialize in print design, illustration, photography, identity/branding, web development and web hosting.
Kompleks ultimate goal since 2001 has been to put a “face” on one’s business by designing and improving one’s company identity. Since 2001, Kompleks has helped their clients to solidify a brand that represent them, which allows them to stand out amongst other graphic design counterparts.
Founder and Principal, Tobias Rose stated, “The Photo-olo-gy concept is something that grew as we progressed as a design company. Our sole purpose in the beginning was to make our clients look good. It was only natural that many of them wanted to make that statement as a literal interpretation of themselves.”
Rose, began shooting (photography) in high school in black and white. Rose told brandnewz correspondents that unfortunately, he couldn’t find any of that “black and white stuff”, as he put it while laughing and grinning. Today, Rose weapon of design is a simple Digital Rebel XT. “No more, no less, Rose stated.” Rose agrees that this expensive habit is has turned into a healthy obsession.
Rose’s cliental ranges from small business owners to institutions of higher learning, this vast spectrum of cliental has helped in their versatile approach of graphic design unnoticeably. Whether it’s an agency, individual or a business, Kompleks guarantees they approach everyone the same by reaching out to visually communicate (and stimulate) the clients solution, services and overall identity while still staying true to the Komplek way of design.
Kompleks has blueprinted the strategies for achieving long-term success, and the recipe for reaching self actualization through one’s vision, preferably the client by way of print design, illustration, photography, identity/branding, web development and web hosting. Below is some unKompleks but Creative steps in doing so.
Kompleks Creative follows a six-stage design process.
1. Doing Our Homework: We meet with the client to discuss their needs and desires. From time to time, we’re given a brief that we work from.
2. Evaluation: At this point, we look at each piece we need to create to develop some goals for the project.
3. Exploration: We begin the creative process by researching the type of business. Doing this will help to create the visual communication of our client’s needs.
4. Approval: Our designers work with the client to ensure the mock up is what our clients are looking for. At this point we usually meet with our client to discuss any changes that need to be made. Once this step is complete, we can work towards a finished product.
5. Development: During this stage, our designers and developers collaborate internally to make the project functional. For our print projects, we print proofs and test to ensure the finished product will look the way it’s intended when it’s sent to print. For our websites, we end this stage out with a testing phase.
6. Delivery: In the end, we deliver the project to our client and assist them when needed. Sometimes this can be an additional level of support.
7. Our Services
8. Most of our client services revolve around graphic design services. Everything else supplements this aspect of our organization.
9. Identity Development/Design
Our branding services range from designing identity systems to logo types and marks complete with style and branding manuals. We like to think of each one of our projects as a new challenge with a new set of needs. Because of this, we approach each project a little differently.
10. We keep in mind the cultural impact that each project can have. With this knowledge in mind, Kompleks works with business owners to project their business through their business identity.
11. Web Development
The web development process can be a simple process or, it can be a demanding deadline induced system. We prefer to make it work both ways for our clients.
12. In preparation for the future, we work to include the latest technologies in our client projects. Whether it’s the newest content management system or javascript libraries, we work to ensure that their project will be relevant for as long as possible.
13. Photography Services
Photo shoots and prints aren’t the only aspect of photography we cover. Kompleks has the resources to put a photographer at your event or function. We don’t do weddings yet, but we do cover ribbon cutting events and performances.
14. Illustration
Occasionally, a piece may need a special traditional aspect to be added in order to come to life. We work with people who we consider to be some of the best illustrators in the world to ensure that the execution of their project is as unique as possible. This is the aspect of our organization approaching each piece as art in practice. These vary from pencil to paint to digital vector art.
