Today we take ride on the Green side of things. The green side of Rita G. Most popular as the Playboy Model who murders Kanye West in his “Flashing Lights” video we’re delighted to find there is a lighter & brighter side of Rita. Rita and Hp4 Digital Works & Solutions have began production on her documentary titled “With Rita” about her life before, during and after being a successful Playboy Model. Rita has and is living a very interesting life that Hp4 felt very passionate about being told. The documentary deals with her life as a child, personal relationships and as a Playboy Model. Besides her beauty, Rita Granberry has an incredible intellect unknown to many of her fans. She has turned her life around to inform others about what she has paid a very expensive price to know. Her photography, her interest and involvement in Human Rights and Health are truly exceptional. But in today’s BNz feature we address what inquiring minds want to know. What events led to her passion and choices for green living?
“I remember joining Gold’s Gym while still in high school and becoming involved to the point of working out twice a day and even competing in amateur bodybuilding competitions. I had to become educated about the right
kind of foods and diet to fuel my activities. The process of learning how to eat to live and support total well being fascinated me but more importantly left me with the realization that my health was sacred to me. Having a
foundation in this kind of information gave me restraint in other areas, especially where the typical peer pressures of experimenting with alcohol and other substances were concerned.
Those things were not a temptation for me and even today I don’t drink or smoke, mostly because I value having clarity of mind and dont feel safe under the influence of any potentially mind altering substance – even pain killers.
Fast forward years later: the hectic life of a young adult working and on my own, my diet consisted of the 10 box of cereals on top of my refrigerator and fast food whenever i was out. Fed up, one day i made a decision that i would start cooking at least two days out of the week. This soon turned into seven days a week. the more I learned about food the more my diet evolved. I began cooking up a storm as I discovered a passion for creating in the kitchen. i wasnt modeling back then, but i actually had ‘food groupies’. my roomate would take leftovers to work and have to hide to eat his lunch. coworkers would have him call me to get my recipes and once someone even stole his food out the company fridge!!!
As I continued to learn more about the foods i was preparing I started to feel irresponsible for making dishes that were simply great tasting (rich and indulgent) and instead made it my business to focus more on foods that were best for my health. I made a firm decision to choose organic and healthful ingredients. shortly after that i saw a dvd called EATING (ravediet.com). A powerful video that changed my life and resulted in me becoming a vegetarian. This opened up a whole new world of ingredients and food combinations i would never have experiemented with, then cooking and eating, became much more fun and interesting for me. As a meat eater I was bored with pretty much only 4 choices- beef, pork, chicken, fish. But there are over 800 different fruits and vegetables to play.
Not long after my change to a plant based diet I arrived at a place where i realized the importance of growing your
own foods to ensure the greatest level of nutrition and that gave me another area to research. now gardening is another hobby I am passinate about that pretty much sums up my journey from a junk food junkie to a hardcore
‘health’ type person, i guess. When you start with taking little steps at whatever you can do at the time, you gain confidence and then feel you can do a little bit more… then a little bit more. i encourage everyone to try eating just 1 meatless meal a week. or try vegetarianism for 3 weeks and just see how good you feel! your taste bud adjust very quickly so when you try to go back to that double monster cheeseburger you might find it doesnt taste as good as you hoped it would.
The body is such an amazing instrument that we can spend our teens and twenties eating McDonald’s and other trash with little or no consequences, but by 30 or 40 the bill comes due and we have to pay the price with common and sometimes hard to diagnose illnesses and ‘conditions’. I hope to share information that makes others reflect and realize that if we abuse our bodies we have no other place to live. living in a sick and diseased body is no fun and can be VERY inconvenient. most of us dont like to think too much about our food choices, i mean it’s
just food right? NO! it’s not just food, because YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. and what you eat either nurtures and enhances your health or it undermines your health. and if our health is compromised, it undermines the success and enjoyment of ALL our endeavors and pursuits. just my two cents…”
