M&F recently celebrated its 100th year in operation with a century old birthday bash. N.C., Supreme Court Associate Justice, Patricia Timmons-Goodson ruled over the celebration as guest speaker.

During the birthday commemoration Timmons-Goodson talked vividly about Mechanics and Farmers century existing being a key financial advantage within the community. Also, Mechanics and Farmers Bancorp, Inc, Chairman, Maceo K. Sloan, gave a brief historical assessment with the following information. “For the past one-hundred years, Mechanics and Farmers is the only bank in North Carolina that has never had a losing year. It did not close or lay anyone off during the great depression.” Bancorp, Inc is the parent company of the Mechanics and Farmers Bank.
In 2006, Gov. Mike Easley appointed the Florence County, South Carolina native, Patricia “Pat” Timmons-Goodson to the N.C. Supreme Court where she gained the vacated seat of appointed Associate Justice Sarah Parker. Timmons-Goodson has 13 years of judicial experience in Cumberland County and more than 20 years of judicial experience overall. Timmons-Goodson recently retired from the N.C. Court of Appeals after serving nine years but not before establishing an irreplaceable legacy.
Timmons-Goodson legal know-how has earned her accolades and unyielding status on almost every committee and judicial board possible including the N.C. Judicial Conference and the N.C. Association of Black Lawyers, the Secretary of the Appellate Judge’s Conference of the American Bar Association, North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, National Bar Association, North Carolina Sentencing and Policy Advisory Commission, North Carolina Supreme Court Dispute Resolution Committee and scores of others.
