“No Excuses,” is the motto of Hollywood actress, celebrity choreographer slash fitness enthusiast turned fitness trainer Adrienne-Joi “AJ” Johnson. What isn’t AJ doing these days, besides making no excuses for herself? Jonson has gone from suburban New Jersey native to one of Hollywood’s most respected locals.

What takes AJ to California, besides numerous movies and television sitcom appearances, how about a new-fangled venture; you guessed it in fitness training? Johnson’s managed to mix both her hobbies and careers into something that does not involve memorizing scripts, all that is required is a positive mind and the ability to twist and turn the hips, oh!, and a few dollars of course.

Most of Johnson’s fans, wonder how the Nubian Queen keeps her, twenties look while still carrying the load of a grown woman, it’s simple she works out. Johnson not only manages her shape but she manages the shape of many of Hollywood’s and music’s familiar faces physiques literally. AJ is the host of her very own shows, yes shows she host two shows that air on VH1″FLAB to FAB” and “SAVVY,” were she personally sculptures some of show biz’s most famous “beautiful bods”, including Destiny’s Child, Brandy, Tisha Cambell Martin, Jody Watley, New Edition, Morris Day, Keenan Ivory and Chaka Khan.

Johnson has even helped the Congressional Black Caucus, with fitness work outs, nutritional awareness, spiritual building and psychological training at their Health Empowerment Expo that took place in Los Angeles. It’s obvious that, Johnson has been doing a lot more than just partying, since her days of House Party she certainly has came of age.

Johnson has tackled a wide range of lifestyles and roles, but perhaps the most memorable character being Sharane, a street-savvy teen, AJ played in New Line Cinemas, box office comedy smash, House Party written and directed by Reginald Hudlin. AJ has shared the limelight with some of hip hops and Hollywood’s greatest influences including: Tisha Campbell Martin, Bébé’s Kids, Robin Harris, Martin Lawrence, Mr. Coordination, John Witherspoon, Full Force, Laurence Fishburne, Sylvester Stallone, Julia Roberts, Giancarlo Esposito, Whoopi Goldberg, Larenz Tate, Tyrese Gibson, Snoop Dogg, Taraji P. Henson, Omar Gooding, Ving Rhames and Brandnewz’s own master of ceremony Christopher “Play” Martin.

House Party became one of those movie pillars that helped to elevated Johnson’s career, to remarkable levels and ultimately paving the way for her childhood dream of becoming one of Hollywood’s camera girls. Since her debut in Spike Lee’s, 1988, musical School Daze, Johnson has made guest appearances on numerous TV sitcoms, movies and dramas while also getting her acting-on with supporting roles in many theatrical releases and independent films, such as: A Different World, In the Heat of the Night, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Amen, Chicago Hope, The Jamie Foxx Show, and Touched By An Angel, A Mother’s Courage: the Mary Thomas Story, Clippers, Murder Without Motive: The Edmund Perry Story, Love, Lies & Lullabies, The Beast, Double Trouble, Sister Act, The Inkwell, High Freakquency, Two Shades of Blue, Tara, Baby Boy, and Skin Deep.

AJ has accomplished numerous accolades and achievements including graduating magna cum laude from one of the best HBCU’s in the country, Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia. It’s at Spelman where Johnson earned a degree in psychology due to the insistence of her parents. While at Spelman Johnson, grew a greater love for her artistic calling, so she attended classes during the day and performed in a city theater group at night.

Johnson is a former Miss Collegiate Black America and present member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Johnson has been recognized for her many achievements and versatility both academically and in the arts. In both 1991 and in 2002, she was nominated for the Black Reel Award, for the Best Supporting Actress in both Baby Boy and House Party and she took home the Special Mention Award in 2001, for her role in Baby Boy and the Young Artist Award for her role in A Mother’s Courage: the Mary Thomas Story.
