Big BNz props to Darien “Supe” Super from the ATL, Georgia via Philly, for this great story on the EBONY Black Family Reunion Tour!EBFRT is back with yet another tour that’s entertaining, fresh, and free. The reunion is in its fifth consecutive year! The Ebony Black Family Reunion Tour was designed to bring African-American families together for a day of fun festivities. EBFRT uses interactive settings, to provide families with life enhancing tools. The tour underlines the importance of fellowship and the significance of spending time with loved ones and friends.

Many black families across the country host reunions to revive retain and reinforce relationships with extended relatives, and EBONY has designed a reunion to celebrate this historical tradition by bringing the community together as a part of a bigger family.

They have experts schooling the public on health fitness and nutritional advice facilitated by Dr. Rovenia Brock. Cooking demonstrations are conducted by EBONY’s food editor and “New EBONY Cookbook” Author and Chef Charlotte Lyons. Families can participate in activities such and health screenings. Washington Mutual (WAMU) is also offering free checking accounts to participants.

The reunion will also showcase an old-school concert safe for the entire family with popular hip hop artists like “The Human Beatbox,” Doug E. Fresh, Hip Hop’s first lady, MC Lyte and Hip Hop legend, Kool Moe Dee. Fans will have a chance to meet celebrities including radio personality Ms. Dupree from “The Tom Joyner Morning Show”, Charlotte Lyons, Steve Harvey, G. Garvin, and Klymaxx. EBONY Magazine, Procter & Gamble and GM Goodwrench®, have implemented this seven-city tour of free family events in the following cities: Houston, TX, Birmingham, AL, Detroit, MI , Chicago, IL , Memphis, TN, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX.

EBONY was founded in 1845, by a 27-year-old, businessman, John H. Johnson. EBONY is a monthly magazine primary for the African American market. EBONY and Jet Magazine are published by Johnson Publishing. Johnson Publishing Company, Inc. is the world’s largest African-American-owned and-operated publishing company. The first issue of EBONY was published in November of 1945. The EEBONY concept was implemented to offer new hope in a world that showed few positive images of African-Americans. EBONY has over twelve (12) million monthly readers.

Even since the beginning EBONY has profiled successful African-American role models. EBONY has help to change the African-American media stigma from a negative visualization to a more positive revelation over the last sixty (60) years.
