DRL Toons - Cartoonist

DRL ToonsD. Toons was born in Newark, New Jersey. He discovered his love for art at the age of five (5) and continued to perfect his talent throughout his childhood. It was in high school that he began to really think that there might be a career in artwork. D. Toons was encouraged by one of his teachers, and later went on to win first place in the region in the Minority Arts Contest.

Rather than taking an artistic path after high school, Toons entered the Marine Corps, where he designed numerous infantry logos including: the patch for Aviano Italy, the Squadron Book, and boot camp flags. D. Toons made extra money by drawing on recruits’ mailing envelopes.

After the Marines, Toons considered a career as a tattoo artist but quickly changed his mind to pursue another avenue of creativity. The morning of Tuesday, July 10, 2001 was a day of tragedy and D. Toons’ life was changed forever…on that date he found his only child deceased. Three (3) weeks later…DRLtoons was born.

Following that tragic point in his life, he took a local screen-printing job. He finally made the decision to branch out on his own and entered into a joint business venture, which ultimately proved to be unsuccessful. It was after this failed entrepreneurial attempt that DRLToons was officially established.

D. Toon is changing the face of graphic design as he shoots for the sky’s limits. DRLToons currently employs a small team of people and desires to put North Carolina on the map; through innovative graphic design as well as a feature length film. DRLToons hopes that the world is ready for the designed revolution.
